Building a Better Bodywork/Masseur Ad

Minimize

A bodywork/masseur ad that makes a statement above the other ads is one that pays attention to the details. Put together, those details entice and encourage potential clients to become paid clients. Here are some tips from our experts to maximizing the appeal of your ad.

Upgrading Your Ad

Hands down, this is one of the most effective things you can do to garner more attention. Why is that? Because Gold and Platinum ads give you much better placement in profile searches. It is truly the difference between being on the first (few) pages of displayed ads or one among the chase pack. Do you really want your would-be clients skimming through *at least* 2 pages of hot competition before seeing your randomly placed ad? And don’t forget if you win a Diamond ad auction, it’ll make your ad the very first one seen.

The Thumbnail That Says A Thousand Things

The first thing anyone will look at is the thumbnail photo that appears next to your ad listing. Your thumbnail photo should pop! Things to avoid: photos with text in or around the image, blurry photos, too much digital enhancing, pics where you are lost against the surroundings or too small, or totally irrelevant images (i.e. pics of dildos, your apartment, etc. Photos of your set up shouldn’t be your thumbnail but are good inside the profile.) Your thumbnail should be flattering, show your best assets, show what sets you apart and be visually memorable. You want that guy browsing through the site to think, "Who was that guy with the great tattoos," or "God, I need to try that kickboxer!"  Even better is a pic of you giving a massage (the face of the other receiving the massage should not be shown)! Whether it’s the vibrant colors, dramatic lighting, or the tattoos on your body, getting your pics to stand out will get you first clicks.

Give Better Headers

Great headlines aren’t just for The New York Times. Mentioning that you’re certified or licensed (a big plus for your business and for your ad), your specializations (Thai, Swedish, etc.), or how much experience you have is great info to include. Some clever taglines can do wonders too. We may not know what the “Hands of Zen” in one of our masseur's headline actually means, but we’d sure want to try them, especially since it suggests relaxation, calm, and tranquility.  Some guys are looking for types, so a headline that says, for example, that you’re ex-military, a Brazilian, or a student, could be very appealing. Replace irrelevant or redundant info. If your pics show your tattoos, then you don’t have to say so in the headline.  In bodyworker/masseur ads, mentioning that you’re a top, bottom, or versatile isn’t particularly relevant either. Keep things concise.

It’s What’s Inside That Counts

This section could be its own article, but the short of it is this: the more info, the better – as long as it is relevant. Fill out all the profile fields, be explicit about your rates and use as few “Ask Me’s” or “Varies’s” as possible, honestly fill out working hours grid, what techniques you actually know and use, that you serve both men and women, and write profile text that sells your services as a masseur. Saying that you are looking for “discrete encounters” or “anything goes” suggests that you aren’t serious about your work. If you know more than one language, write your ad in those other languages as well. It’s just another way to reach out to perspective clients. And make sure the phone number in your ad is correct!

He Said, (S)He Said

Reviews written by your clients that praise your skills and the experience and service that you provided are extremely persuasive in getting someone who is sitting on the fence to come over to your side and hire you. Needless to say, the more gleaming reviews the better. Really encourage your clients to log back onto the Manworks.com site and have them write a review of you. They can be short and sweet but have a big impact.
